Falcon 40B

Trained on 40 billion parameters and one trillion tokens, Falcon 40B was the first home-grown open source, large language model (LLM) to be released with weights for research and commercial use. The model climbed to the top of the Hugging Face Leaderboard for Large Language Models within the week of its launch and gave the UAE a seat at the table among the world’s most advanced AI nations.

At the same time, it positioned TII as a key enabler in driving generative AI capabilities in the UAE and beyond – making the Institute the first entity in the world to democratize AI and open source its model for research and commercial purposes. Concurrent with its launch, TII announced a Call for Proposals from the scientific and research community as well as entrepreneurs keen to deploy the new model to build use cases and applications.

The Call for Proposals is currently in its closing stages – five exceptional companies and individuals have made the shortlist – and the winners of the final round are to receive training computing power as an investment from VentureOne. Stay tuned!
